After weeks of talks, Promes finally completed his return to Spartak Moscow on Wednesday with the winger signing a 3.5-year deal with the Russian side.
Speaking to Ajax TV, Promes said, “I look back on a really good period, especially in the first season. I have had very nice moments, but unfortunately the season ended because of corona. We are now on top, so it was more difficult to leave the club.
“I look back at an educational period, I am grateful that I had the opportunity to show myself. “
Promes has not been a starter this season, and that is one of the reasons why he is deciding to depart, “Football is the most important thing for me. I was not a starting player either. That combination started to gnaw at me. I went from club top scorer to substitute. Every player has difficulty in giving that a place. Then you see if it is not wise to look further. With pain in my heart I say goodbye. “
