According to De Telegraaf, PSG are doing all they can to bring Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt to the club.

PSG are putting in a lot of work to sign the 19-year-old defender, who has a five-year contract waiting for him in Paris.

De Ligt’s agent Mino Raiola spoke with the club’s outgoing sporting director Antero Henrique on Wednesday and a deal has been agreed in all principles, but until there are signatures on a contract, PSG are wary.

Frenkie de Jong was just as close to joining PSG in January before deciding at the last minute to choose Barcelona. PSG are scared that the same situation could occur with Barcelona their only rival for De Ligt’s signature.

The defender departs on Thursday for a much-needed holiday with his girlfriend Annekee Molenaar, who visited Paris earlier this month to go house-hunting.

PSG made sure that Annekee and her mother Christiane could not be spotted and drove them around Paris in a car with tinted windows.

De Ligt will mull over his future while on holiday and make a final decision when he returns. Ajax are set to receive €80 million for their captain.
