The home side only needed a draw to make the knock out rounds, but were searching for the win straight from the kick off as they dominated the early play.
Memphis Depay struck as shot straight at Chornomorets keeper Bezotosnyi, who then tipped a powerful Jorrit Hendrix effort around the post.
Oleksiy Antonov had a great chance to give the Ukrainians the lead before half time, but his half volley flew just wide of Jeroen Zoet’s post.
At the start of the second half, Luciano Narsingh fired over from yards out, while Adam Maher’s effort was brilliantly kept out by Bezotosnyi.
Then came the sucker-punch on 59 minutes, as Franck Dja Djedje leaped higher than Zanka to sent a looping header over Zoet and give Chornomorets the lead.
PSV looked for the equaliser but Bezotosnyi once again stopped a rasping effort from Hendrix, while Depay fired wide.
With ten minutes to go Chornomorets were reduced to ten men after Sito Reira reacted angrily to a challenge by Santiago Arias, and hit out at the right back before being shown a straight red.
Ola Toivonen somehow managed to scoop the ball over the bar from a few yards out, while Depay could not finish when through on goal, and the final whistle was greeted with shock around the Philips Stadion.
Six games without a win now for PSV, and there disappointing campaign shows no signs of getting better, with players such as Adam Maher and Jurgen Locadia looking short of confidence.
Out of Europe, the domestic cup, and 13 points off the leaders in the Eredivisie, the season may already be over for PSV Eindhoven.
What a shame
