PSV Eindhoven’s shaky start to the season continued on Saturday night as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Heracles Almelo.

Four days before the Champions League visit to Bayern Munich, PSV went in search of a victory which would get their title challenge back on track, but another frustrating night in front of goal saw them having to settle for a point.
Luuk de Jong had another wasteful night in front of goal, missing two good chances in the opening stage of the game and six minutes before half time, Heracles stunned the home crowd when Samuel Armenteros beat Jeroen Zoet. However, PSV’s reply was swift as Gaston Pereiro tapped in the equaliser two minutes later after De Jong’s header was saved by Bram Castro.
In the second half Castro kept his side in the game with fine saves from Steven Bergwijn, De Jong and substitute Olexandr Zinchenko, who came on for the injured Siem de Jong. Heracles held out for the point which means PSV could be nine points off top spot on Sunday evening.
