benson aThe home side got off to the perfect start as Jeffrey Bruma rose to head in a corner with only three minutes on the clock.

However the lead only lasted ten minutes, as Fred Benson slid the ball home after a cross from the right hand side to give PEC Zwolle the equaliser.

Zakaria Bakkali fired just wide for PSV, while at the other end Mustafa Saymak saw an effort saved by Tyton as both sides went into the break level.

Karim Rekik was unlucky not to give PSV the lead three minutes into the second half, with his header from a corner being blocked on the line by Broerse.

PEC keeper Leon ter Wielen then made two great stops to deny PSV the lead, as he tipped over Jetro Willems drive, before diverting Florian Jozefzoon’s effort just wide.

The visitors were reduced to ten men before the end as goalscorer Fred Benson was shown his second yellow for time wasting.

PSV failed to make the extra man count, and made it five matches in all competitions without a win. Jurgen Locadia replaced Tim Matavz up front, but it is clear that PSV have two strikers who are short of confidence, and scoring goals is a real problem for the Eindhoven side.

PEC Zwolle played well the first half, but relied on Ter Wielen in the second half to keep PSV out, and their impressive start continues. Both teams remain on the same points, but PSV sit 4th, and PEC Zwolle 6th due to goal difference.
