Phillip Cocu’s side went into the game looking to forget about the midweek defeat to Bayern Munich which ended their hopes of progressing in the Champions League. However, the Eredivisie champions issues up front were evident in the first half as the hosts failed to create any clear cut chances, with an early Gaston Pereiro shot their highlight of the first half.
Twente looked dangerous on the counter attack and they eventually took the lead early in the second half with Stefan Thesker playing Enes Unal through on goal before the striker slotted the ball past Remko Pasveer. The lead only lasted nine minutes before PSV equalised through Hector Moreno who stabbed the ball in from close range after Nick Marsman saved from Pereiro.
The hosts then went in search of the winner with substitute Oleksandr Zinchenko forcing Marsman into a save before he struck the bar with a great effort. Joshua Brenet also hit the woodwork for PSV before the end as Twente held on for a point.
The draw means PSV could drop seven points behind leaders Feyenoord if they win against Go Ahead Eagles on Sunday. Twente remain sixth.
