With Vitesse slipping up to Groningen earlier on Saturday, PSV knew victory would lift them into 2nd, as Feyenoord and Twente miss this gameweek.
The home side got off to the perfect start as Jurgen Locadia finished of Ji Sung Park’s pass after only 14 minutes to become the clubs top scorer for the season with 11 goals.
PSV continued to threaten the Roda defence throughout the first half, but they went into the break level after Mitchel Paulissen leveled the score for the visitors with a fine finish after being played through by Mark-jan Fledderus.
PSV retook the lead on 63 minutes when Bryan Ruiz finished from close range after both Memphis Depay and Locadia saw their shots blocked.
Ten minutes later Jeffrey Bruma sealed the win for PSV as he headed a corner into the top corner to make it 3-1. The hosts were the better side throughout and all that was missing was a goal for the excellent Memphis Depay, who saw several efforts saved by Filip Kurto before the end.
Roda JC remain rooted to the bottom of the table, and with only five games to go, and the club six points from safety, it is looking bleak for Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side.
