Phillip Cocu’s side’s chances of lifting the title were all but ended with a defeat to Feyenoord last weekend but they are still hopeful of catching Ajax and earning a place in the Champions League qualifiers.
Roda JC were the visitors to the Philips Stadion on Saturday and they frustrated the hosts early on but in the 27th minute Hector Moreno rose to head in a corner. Six minutes later Jetro Willems cross evaded Luuk de Jong, but it fell perfectly for his brother Siem to knock in PSV’s 2nd from close range.
After the hour mark, Moreno headed in another corner to make it 3-0 before Jurgen Locadia was brought down in the box and De Jong added his second from the penalty spot.
PSV move to within three points of second-placed Ajax, who face Groningen on Sunday, while Roda JC are 16th.
