The two clubs were in negotiations on Monday and in the evening an agreement was finally reached. PSV will receive more than €30 million for the 22-year-old.
Bergwijn’s agent Fulco van Kooperen held positive talks with Jose Mourinho and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy last week. Bergwijn will now sign a five-and-a-half year deal in London.
The Netherlands international joined PSV from the Ajax academy back in 2011 and he made 149 appearances for the club, scoring 31 goals and adding 45 assists.
He saw a move to Sevilla break down in the summer but remained loyal to the Eindhoven club. Despite not agreeing with the sacking of Mark van Bommel, Bergwijn was set to remain at the club until the offer from Tottenham came in. The forward sat out the draw with FC Twente on Sunday and has definitely played his final game in the Netherlands before he moves to England.
