PSV Eindhoven have announced that Ernest Faber will become head coach until the end of the season.

On Monday morning, PSV confirmed that Mark van Bommel had been sacked after the defeat to Feyenoord on Sunday.

Later in the day it was announced that Ernest Faber will become the head coach on a temporary basis until the end of the season.

The 48-year-old has been the head of PSV’s academy since 2018 but had previous spells in charge of FC Eindhoven, NEC Nijmegen and Groningen.

He will be assisted by Boudewijn Zenden and goalkeeper coach Ruud Hesp. Reinier Robbemond and Jürgen Dirkx, who were assistants to Van Bommel, have left the club.
