PSV Eindhoven has confirmed that Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink is the club’s new head of recruitment.

The 39-year-old was a senior scout for the Eredivisie champions but the former striker has now been promoted to head of recruitment, replacing John de Jong, who is now the technical director.

In his new role, Vennegoor of Hesselink will oversee seven scouts, who operate around the world. He told PSV’s website, “We scout all over the world to identify world class and emerging talent for PSV. I think it is quite an honour for me to be in charge of a team of scouts.”

Vennegoor of Hesselink had a successful playing career, representing FC Twente, PSV, Celtic, Hull City, and Rapid Wien while also earning 19 caps for Netherlands. He returned to Eindhoven in 2016 to begin his work as a scout.
