ruiz APSV director Marcel Brands has told Voetbal International that the club have been in contact with Fulham over bringing the Costa Rican back to the Eredivisie.

Ruiz spent two successful years with FC Twente between 2009 and 2011, scoring 35 goals in 65 league games before leaving for London. At Fulham the goals have dried up for Ruiz, and with only five netted in 68 appearances, coach Rene Meulensteen has confirmed he is happy to allow the forward to leave.

Meulensteen told media today, “We’ve let Bryan Ruiz talk to a number of clubs to see if anything comes out of it,”

“There is some contact with Real Betis but maybe Holland will be an option as he knows the league well.”

Spanish club Real Betis are the favourites to sign the 28-year-old, but PSV will be hoping Ruiz fancies a return to the Eredivisie as they look to add more goals to their side.

Tim Matavz is currently out injured for the Eindhoven side, while Ola Toivonen is set to leave. This leaves Jurgen Locadia as the only recognised forward in the squad.
