ruiz AThe Costa Rican has been expected to move to the Philips Stadion for the past week, but the club had to confirm a work permit before the deal could be announced.

Ruiz is now in his second spell in the Eredivisie having spent two years with Twente, in which he helped them win the title with 35 goals in 65 league games, before leaving for Fulham.

The 28-year-old has had a frustrating time in the Premier League, scoring only five goals in 68 games, but will now have the chance to get his career back on track.

Ruiz told the official PSV website,  “I ‘m going to do my best for PSV. I remember every game against PSV was an exciting fight.  Now I’m in the other locker room and I give everything for PSV.

“I have fond memories of my time at FC Twente, but I am a professional and I give 100 percent for PSV to achieve what we want to achieve. When the opportunity arose, I was interested. I ‘m really looking forward to coming to train.

“It’s true that I did not have much time lately at Fulham, so I see this as a great opportunity for me. I want to get my confidence back, helping PSV to finish as high as possible and prepare for the World Cup is the target. I am very motivated to play for PSV.”

Ruiz could make his debut this weekend as PSV travel to Amsterdam to take on Ajax.
