The 30-year-old departed PSV at the end of the season and announced he was looking for a return to Germany in order to be closer to his family.
However, Schwaab couldn’t find a club in his homeland and on Saturday it was reported he was open to a new deal with PSV. That has now been confirmed, with Schwaab signing a one-year deal.
Speaking to the PSV website, Schwaab said, “After spending a lot of time with my wife and children for three months, the hunger is back. The fire is burning again. With the full support of my family, I now continue with great ambition at PSV. ”
Schwaab’s return means that PSV now have five centre-backs, meaning Derrick Luckassen or Trent Sainsbury could be departing in the next few weeks.
