PSV Eindhoven are now two points behind leaders Ajax after being held to a 1-1 draw by Heerenveen.

PSV have generally struggled at the Abe Lenstra Stadion in recent years, but Carlos Vinicius gave Roger Schmidt’s side the lead after 13 minutes. The striker found the net after good work by Bruma.

The visitors kept control before the break but they could not find any more goals, while Joel Drommel denied Rami Kaib’s shot from distance at the other end.

After the break, PSV also failed to kill the game, and eventually, Heerenveen made them pay. Joel Drommel failed to deal with Joey Veerman’s free-kick and Rami Al Hajj was on hand to find the net.

PSV pushed for a late winner but the closest they came was a Bruma strike against the post.

PSV remains second and two points behind Ajax, while Heerenveen is 10th.
