Despite spending an hour of the match with ten men PSV Eindhoven managed to claim a 1-0 win over ADO Den Haag.

deppsv11After Ajax reduced the gap at the top of the table to one point earlier in the night the pressure was on PSV Eindhoven, and they struggled to break down ADO Den Haag early on. Phillips Cocu’s side were dealt a blow when Jetro Willems was forced off early on with an eye injury, but they came close to opening the scoring soon after when Memphis Depay struck the crossbar with a volley.

On the half hour mark the Philips Stadion was shocked as Jorrit Hendrix was shown his second yellow card for bringing down Michiel Kramer and PSV had to play the next 60 minutes with only ten men. PSV still came the closest to opening the scoring before the break but Georginio Wijnaldum’s chip over Martin Hansen came back off the post.

ADO Den Haag top scorer Michiel Kramer was forced off through injury early in the second half, and on 49 minutes PSV took the lead when Luciano Narsingh’s perfect cross to the back post was tapped in by Depay.

The next forty minutes saw PSV comfortably hold onto their lead which sees them stay four points clear at the top, while ADO Den Haag sit 15th.
