The home side started well with Memphis Depay causing ADO’s defence troubles, the winger had a great chance early on, but couldn’t finish past Coutinho after being played through one on one with the keeper.
On 34 minutes Coutinho brought Depay down in the box, resulting in a red card and penalty for PSV, which was brilliantly dispatched by Jurgen Locadia.
Just before half time Locadia made it 2-0 as he slid the ball home at the back post after Depay’s misjudged header fell at the strikers feet.
In the second half PSV continued to create chances, but could not find a third goal, as the away side defended resolutely.
In the final minute Jeffrey Bruma brought down ADO striker Mike van Duinen in the box, but Tom Beugelsdijk saw his poor penalty saved by Jeroen Zoet.
The three points lifts PSV up to 7th going into the winter break, but they still remain 11 points behind Vitesse at the top. ADO Den Haag remain 16th and in the relegation zone.
