It became clear on Sunday that PSV had won the race to sign the 22-year-old ahead of Feyenoord, who had reportedly also agreed a fee with AZ, believed to be around €6 million. Luckassen underwent his medical in Eindhoven on Monday before signing his five-year contract and will now join up with his new teammates in Switzerland.
Luckassen told the official PSV website, “I am very proud that I can make this transition. “I chose purely on feeling for PSV. There were some other options, but I think PSV is a good club, and one that suits me. I hope to have very good times here.”
The centre-back, who can also play at full-back and in midfield, came through the AZ academy and made 97 appearances for the club, scoring eight times. He becomes PSV’s second signing of the summer after Hirving Lozano.
