PSV Eindhoven general manager Toon Gerbrands has confirmed that Mark van Bommel has made contact with Arjen Robben about a possible return to the club next summer.

Robben has already confirmed that he will depart Bayern Munich next summer and has been linked with a return to the Eredivisie with either of his former clubs, Groningen or PSV Eindhoven.

Speaking to Omroep Brabant, Gerbrands said on a possible return to PSV for Robben, “There has been contact. Mark, who played with Arjen, sent him a message.

“It is, of course, up to Arjen to make the decision.”

Robben spent two years with PSV, making 75 appearances for the club before joining Chelsea in 2004.
