PSV Eindhoven continued their impressive start to the season with a 6-1 victory over Willem II in the Philips Stadion.

Fresh from booking their place in the Champions League group stages, PSV looked to maintain their perfect start to the Eredivisie campaign and after only seven minutes, Jorrit Hendrix sent an unstoppable strike into the top corner to make it 1-0.

Six minutes later, Steven Bergwijn, who was dropped from the Netherlands squad on Friday, cut past his man before curling in PSV’s second. PSV were then awarded a penalty via VAR for a foul on Hirving Lozano on 35 minutes and Gaston Pereiro calmly made it 3-0 from the spot.

PSV still wasn’t done for the first half with Nick Viergever making it 4-0, volleying the ball into the net on the rebound after Luuk de Jong had a shot saved.

Fran Sol pulled one back early in the second half but PSV quickly reestablished their four-goal lead with Viergever netting his second of the game after being set up by De Jong.

Bergwijn headed in his second and PSV’s sixth to round of a comfortable victory for Mark van Bommel’s side that will remain top of the table.
