Arias akdThe reports are coming from the hugely unreliable Daily Star, which believes that United will make an £8 million move for the Colombian defender after scouts were impressed. This news should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Arias joined PSV in the summer from Sporting Lisbon, and for the first few months struggled to get to grips with the Eredivisie, making several errors, and being replaced in some games by youngster Joshua Brenet.

However over recent weeks, both PSV’s and Arias’s form has improved, with the 22-year-old playing a key role in the 3-2 win over Go Ahead Eagles on Saturday, as he provided the cross for Bryan Ruiz’s winner.

Whether Arias is ready to step up to the Premier League is another question with the defensive side of his game still needing a lot of work if he is to compete for a starting spot at Old Trafford.

The ability, and potential is definitely there, but Arias needs at least another season at PSV to mature into a quality defender.
