The 21-year-old who earned the nickname, de Bomber of Breda, after showing great goal scoring instincts during his time in the NAC Breda youth side, has struggled to hold down a first team place this season.
Schalk has only started two Eredivisie games so far this campaign, whilst the Dutchman has appeared a further three times from the bench, scoring once.
Due to his lack of first team action, Schalk has become frustrated with NAC coach Nebojsa Gudelj, but will now get the chance to impress on loan with PSV.
PSV need a new forward with Tim Matavz currently injured, and while Schalk will begin with Jong PSV in the Eerste Divisie, he may get the chance to feature in the first team.
The striker is under contract in Breda until 2015, and NAC’s technical director Jeffrey van As still believes the striker can be a success at the club.
As told AD, “Alex knows how we feel about him and we still believe that he is of value in our selection. We are confident that this way he gets the chance to gain a lot of playing time at a high level and gain experience.”
