maher ePSV seemed to have pulled of a huge coup when they sealed the signature of Maher from AZ Alkmaar last summer, with the midfielder seen as one of Netherlands biggest talents.

However his first season in Eindhoven was a major disappointment, as Maher found himself rooted to the bench after a number of underwhelming performances.

PSV general manager, Tiny Sander’s, who will soon be replaced by Toon Gerbrands, revealed the clubs anguish over the 20-year-olds form.

Sanders told De Telegraaf, “It would be naive to say that we’re not worried about him after last season,”

“Of course we do. But he is and remains a good player. Everyone agrees that he can play great football,”

“He knows what he must do. But it will have to be done in the new season. Now you can say that it has been a matter of adjustment, but if he has such a season as this, then you have to conclude that he is a bad signing.”
