On Saturday, Dutch winger Quincy Promes fired Spartak to a 1-0 win over Tom Tomsk with an early penalty, which meant the Russian title was theirs unless Zenit st Petersburg beat Terek Grozny on Sunday. Terek Grozny ran out 1-0 winners meaning the title was Spartak’s for the first time since 2001.

Promes has played a big part in Spartak’s success this season with the former Twente forward netting 11 times and adding ten assists in 23 league games.
