The Dutch international beat Igor Akinfeev (CSKA Moscow) and ex-Feyenoorder Fedor Smolov (FC Krasnodar) to the prize, which is chosen by Russian newspaper Sport-Express along with journalists, fans and representatives of the league.
Promes netted 12 league goals and contributed ten assists as Spartak Moscow topped the Russian Premier League last season. He has continued his fine form into this campaign with 15 goals and eight assists in all competitions.
The 25-year-old has been with Spartak Moscow since 2014 but has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool in recent months. He has a contract in Russia until 2021 and would command a high fee if any club makes a move in January or the summer.
