promes spaThe Former FC Twente forward has settled quicker than expected to life in Russia following his €12 million summer switch and is showing why teams such as Manchester United had been interested in the young star.

Spartak have made an indifferent start to the season and find themselves in 6th place in the league, but the 22 year old has played very well, contributing 5 goals and 3 assists in his first 14 appearances for his new club.

His fine form has been widely recognised, earning him another call up to the national squad in the most recent international break. The pacey winger won his third cap for the Oranje coming on as a substitute for Memphis Depay in the 60th minute but he could not prevent the Netherlands slumping to a 3-2 loss against Mexico in Amsterdam.

Although branded with a hefty price-tag, Promes is quickly winning over any doubters. Domestically his fine performances have earned him the Russian Premier League’s Player of the Month award for November and all signs suggest his encouraging development will continue for the foreseeable future.
