Rafael Van der Vaart spoke during is unveiling as an FC Midtjylland player. The 33-year-old hopes to be a key player for the Danish club after his nightmare year with Real Betis.

vdv betThe 109 time Dutch international had a torrid time with Real Betis in Spain last season, with injuries and poor form restricting him to only seven matches for the La Liga side. Now, van der Vaart has been unveiled as an FC Midtjylland player and he hopes his experience can be key to help his teammates.

Van der Vart said, ” In terms of focusing on youth I compare this club to Ajax in that way. At Midtjylland they have a very good youth setup with a lot of good young players and I hope that I can help them with my experience.

”I still need time in order to get fully match fit. I had a long holiday which involved training with a personal trainer but of course that is different in terms of always training with team mates ”.

Denmark will be the 5th country in which Van der Vaart will ply his football trade having played in his native Netherlands, Germany, Spain and England .
