Sparta Rotterdam’s excellent start to the season continued on Saturday with a 2-1 win at ADO Den Haag.

Sparta went into the game full of confidence after their win over VVV Venlo last weekend, while ADO Den Haag were looking for their first point of the campaign.

The home side created the first big chance but Tim Coremans made a brilliant save to deny Tomas Necid’s header.

In the 26th minute, it was Sparta who took the lead when Halil Dervisoglu set up Mohamed Rayhi to fire a fierce strike past Robert Zwinkels. Just before the break it was 2-0 as Dervisoglu set Rayhi through on goal again and he slotted past Zwinkels.

ADO Den Haag failed to make an impression but ten minutes from time, Lex Immers pulled one back with a header from a corner. That proved to just be a consolation, though, as Sparta held on for victory.

Sparta are now on seven points, while ADO Den Haag remain pointless.
