The 19-year-old contract with Ajax expires in the summer and speaking to media in his homeland of Indonesia, his agent stated that Reading were very interested in the forward. He reportedly said,  “Reading thinks he is good enough for the first team. Ezra has spoken with Ajax over a new contract, but a chance in England would be great,”

However, Brian Tevreden has rubbished this story and claimed they have never even spoken to the player. He told Reading Chronicle, “You read and hear such stories every day. I can confirm that Reading has never spoken to the player and that we have not offered him a contract as well,”

Walian, who has one cap for the Indonesian national team, has scored three goals for Jong Ajax in the Eerste Divisie this season.
