Real Betis announced the transfer of Gutierrez on their official website, the midfielder is expected to provide a creative spark to a team that finished tenth last season. The deal is thought to be in the region of between €2.5-3.5 million euros.
Gutierrez played one hundred and ninety-seven matches for FC Twente, scoring thirty-two goals, over a four year period at the club.
FC Twente signed Gutierrez, with the help of investors, from Universidad Catolica for €2.8 million. Therefore, Gutierrez’s transfer to Real Betis means the club will recoup most of the original outlay for the player. The sale of a key player comes at a time when FC Twente are looking to ease financial worries surrounding the club.
Felipe Gutierrez has won twenty-eight caps for Chile, but recently missed out on the Copa America due to injury. Gutierrez joins Rafael van der Vaart at Real Betis with the team from Sevilla looking to push for European football this coming season.
