AZ Alkmaar striker Myron Boadu was set to make his Jong Oranje debut against Cyprus but he has been forced to pull out due to a minor injury.
Netherlands U21’s boss Erwin van de Looi has decided to call-up Daishawn Redan to replace Boadu. The 18-year-old moved to Hertha Berlin from Chelsea this summer and is now in line to make his debut for the U21’s.
Feyenoord left-back Tyrell Malacia has also pulled out of the squad but no replacement has been called.
Would have been nice to see what Boadu can do! But it is also great to see Redan. But with the whole striker dilemma in the Netherlands ranks, we forget that Cillessen and Zoet are not ageless and the future of the spot between the sticks is looking bleak! Maybe Scherpen is the answer, maybe Bijlow can fight his way back. But we need some more young keepers to find their game! Jurjus, van der Hart had looked promising early on but didn’t seem to reach their full potential!
