Netherlands are hosting the Elite round group which also consists of Turkey and Italy, with the top team heading to the European Championships, while second place could be good enough if among the best seven runners-up.

First up for Oranje was Iceland in Zaltbommel and Chelsea striker Daishawn Redan got the hosts off to a perfect start as he fired in after only two minutes after being set up by Feyenoord winger Crysensio Summerville.

Netherlands dominated the rest of the first half and went 2-0 up four minutes before the break with Redan netting again. The striker nearly completed his hat-trick early in the second half but was off target with a strike.

On 57 minutes, Iceland were awarded a penalty for a foul by Christopher Mamengi and Gudjohnson netted to pull one back. Netherlands then survived some nervy moments in the final twenty minutes to record their opening victory.

Next up is Italy on the 10th of March.
