rekik akdThe 19-year-old defender joined PSV in the summer, and has been one of the most eye catching defenders in the Eredivisie so far this season. His excellent performances throughout the campaign led to a call up to the Dutch national recently for the friendly loss to France.

With the chance of getting into the Manchester City first team slim at the moment, Rekik has stated his intention to continue his development at PSV.

Rekik told NU.nl,  “It would be awfully nice if I can stay at PSV for another year,”

“I have enjoyed my time at PSV. It’s also good for my development that I play here. Because I have played so many games this season, I have become a better player.”

When asked if negotiations had begun over a deal between Manchester City and PSV, Rekik added, “I think that’s going to happen in April or May. Of course it also depends on the defensive plans of City for next year.

“I think that Lescott will leave. But if they pick up another defender in the summer, I see no reason to go back to City after this season.”
