rekik adeRekik joined PSV Eindhoven in the summer looking to gain first team action, which was not an option at Manchester City, with the cash rich club containing a number of world class defenders.

A second year on loan with PSV is being discussed, but Rekik has stated his main goal is to break into the Manchester City starting eleven, which he thinks could happen if some players leave in the summer.

The 19-year-old told Voetbal International, “I want to play at City, which is the big goal,”

“I will only go back if there is a reasonable chance of playing minutes. I will soon be a year playing in the Eredivisie, so it is pointless then to sit down on the bench or the stand at City for another year.”

“Currently there are Vincent Kompany, Martin Demichelis, Joleon Lescott and Matija Nastasić,  many competitors for me in the selection of City. If they continue, I should be loaned another year. But Lescott wants to leave. Suppose they let Lescott go and they do not replace him, that’s interesting to me.”

Rekik has made 29 appearances for PSV this season, and his form earned him a call up for Netherlands national team in the Friendly defeat to France.
