The twenty-eight-year-old striker and Iranian international has signed a two-year contract and is seen as someone who can provide valuable experience to the young forwards already at the club. Heerenveen Technical Manager, Gerry Hamstra, told the official website “We are looking for reinforcements in the age group of 25-32 years. We have many young talented players, but still lack experience and routine in our selection. The signing of Reza is therefore a welcome reinforcement to our selection. It gives us more attacking options and has a lot of experience.”
Reza Ghoochannejhad came through the youth ranks at Heerenveen before spells at Go Ahead Eagles, SC Cambuur, VV. St Truiden, Standard Liege, Al-Kuwait, Al Wakrak and Charlton Athletic. Reza Ghoochannejhad has also represented Iran in the group stage for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The player is currently valued at €750k and has fifty-seven goals in a hundred and seventy-four games throughout his career.
