The game was originally scheduled to be played at evening, but was moved earlier because of the red weather warning in the Netherlands.
In the 4th minute, RKC Waalwijk took the lead with Ahmed Touba outsmarting Sam Kersten before firing into the net.
PEC Zwolle went in search of the equaliser which eventually came in the 75th minute as Mustafa Saymak found the top corner from outside the box.
The hosts then had a big chance to win the game late on but Virgil Misidjan was denied by Kostas Lamprou.
The point means PEC Zwolle remains 13th while RKC are 15th.
