Arjen Robben will not play for Groningen anytime soon as he looks to become 100% fit before making his comeback.

The 36-year-old attacker has missed Groningen’s latest victories over VVV-Venlo and Fortuna Sittard with light injury complaints.

Robben has now confirmed that he will not take part in any of Groningen’s matches in November and is targeting a return to the pitch before the end of the year.

On the club’s website, Robben said, “For the trainer and my fellow players it is also not nice that it is about me almost every week, while I am not there. The team is doing very well at the moment and the guys who deliver the current performance deserve the attention and compliments for this.”

Robben is disappointed by the lack of gametime he has managed, “I’m not going to deny that things are a bit disappointing at the moment. I had hoped to have had a share in more competitions, but after a number of small aches and pains in a row the reality is that it isn’t.”

Robben is still positive about the rest of the season, “We still go for it, without guarantees. I still hope to get where I want to be. It takes a lot of energy, for sure. And although the intended result is not yet there at the moment, I still have a positive feeling.”
