The winger left Bayern Munich at the end of the season and was heavily linked with a return to either Groningen or PSV Eindhoven. However, Robben decided to hang up his boots instead.
Speaking to PSV TV, Robben said on a potential return to Eindhoven, “It has been an option, absolutely.
“It’s no secret that I have good contact with Mark. There were a few options and PSV was definitely one of them. I seriously thought about it, but finally decided to quit. That has nothing to do with any club, so not with PSV either. “
Asked whether he is bored or missing football, Robben responded, “It’s not boring yet, I can’t say I’m getting bored. I’m busy and can now spend more time with the family. We are fully enjoying that.
“I don’t miss football right now, I don’t feel like I’d like to kick a ball. In the four and a half months that I have now stopped, I recently only participated in the farewell match of Rafael van der Vaart, but otherwise I did not wear the football boots. At least, not as a player, because I am the trainer of my son’s team. That is very nice to do. Of course I wanted to spend more time with the family and if you can combine that in this way, then you have everything together. “
