Arjen Robben refused to fully rule out a return to the Dutch national team ahead of next summer’s European Championships.

The 36-year-old retired last summer but announced on Saturday that he was returning to play for Groningen.

Since then speculation has been rife about Robben possibly returning to the Netherlands squad with the European Championships taking place next summer.

Robben was asked about a possible return at his press conference on Sunday, “Let’s start at the beginning first. The goal is clear: group training, then one match, and after that more matches in a row. But I don’t get ahead of things. The European Championship is not on the table now. I think they are doing well at Oranje.”

Robben last played for Netherlands back in 2017 and earned 96 caps for Oranje.
