The goalkeeper landed awkwardly when attempting to retrieve a cross under pressure from Feyenoord striker Nicolai Jorgensen and was taken off the field on a stretcher before heading immediately to a hospital. Ruiter was then diagnosed with a broken collarbone and concussion.
On Monday, Ruiter told RTV Utrecht his thoughts on the situation, ” In all respective circumstances, things are ok. I suffered memory loss in terms of remembering what happened last night. I have seen the incident again on TV and I must say that it could all have been so much worse.”
Ruiter has made a total of 123 appearances since signing for Utrecht from FC Volendam in 2012. He will be replaced by FC Utrecht’s reserve goalkeeper David Jensen.
