Rock bottom Roda JC are in real trouble after a 1-0 defeat to fellow strugglers RKC leaves them clinging on to life in the Eredivisie.

It was Romeo Castelen’s goal in the first half that separated the two sides, and Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side sit six points adrift of safety with only four games left.
Castelen’s goal came after 22 minutes, with the winger fooling two defenders in the box before sending a low shot into the bottom corner past a stranded Filip Kurto.
Roda JC had their chances to find a way back into the game with Berry Powel striking the post with a header, and Guus Hupperts having an effort saved just before half time.
The second half saw Roda JC pushing for a way back into the game, but despite some shaky moments RKC goalkeeper Arjan van Dijk’s goal remained intact. Powel came closest to equalising for the home side near the end but his shot from close range was brilliantly saved by Van Dijk.
Nine defeats in ten games is not good enough for Roda, and with four tough games to come they are almost certain to be playing Eerste Divisie football next season. The win gives RKC hope of avoiding the relegation play-offs as they now sit one point from safety.
