heitinga cSky Sports Italia are reporting that Roma see Heitinga as the perfect replacement for Nicolas Burdisso, who is expected to leave the club this month.

Roma apparently want to enter negotiations with the Premier League club as soon as possible to wrap up a quick deal for the Dutch centre back.

Heitinga has only featured in one Premier League game this season, and his prospects of making Louis van Gaal’s World Cup squad next summer are slim if he does not leave Everton this month.

West Ham United tried to sign the 29-year-old earlier in the month, but Heitinga rejected the deal, while a return to the Eredivisie is also unlikely, despite both Twente and Ajax being linked.

After starting his career with Ajax, Heitinga moved on to Atletico Madrid, before joining Everton for €7 million in 2009. The experienced defender has 87 caps for Netherlands.
