PSV announced last Thursday that they had agreed a deal to sign the forward from Vélez Sarsfield on a five-year deal which begins next summer.

However, the Eredivisie leaders have now struck a deal with the Argentinian side which will see Romero join the club in January on loan until the end of the season. The 18-year-old will join up with his new teammates on their training camp in the United States and could make his Eredivisie debut on the 21st of January against Heracles Almelo.

The news should have consequences for Sam Lammers, who will now slip to fourth in the pecking order. The striker is now set to be loaned out with Sparta Rotterdam one of the interested parties.
