NEC Nijmegen manager Ron De Groot spoke to the NOS after his team’s 2-0 win away at SC Heerenveen which was not enough to avoid the relegation play-offs.

NEC Nijmegen will now play FC Emmen in the semi-finals of the relegation play-offs.
De Groot said, ”We knew that we had to win this game and wait and see what the teams around us did. Roda JC lost away to Vitesse and Sparta Rotterdam won and we were beaten on goal difference which is tough to take.
”It gives us a positive feeling ahead of the relegation play-offs. We will not underestimate are upcoming opponents. We must prepare well and be sharp.
”We have put a basis together to play attacking football and not be too defensive.
”I am convinced we will win the relegation play-offs.”
