Rijkaard joined Barcelona as coach in 2003, the same year that Ronaldinho joined and together they spent five years at the club, winning two national titles (2005 and 2006) and a Champions League (2006).

Speaking to Voetbal International, Ronaldinho said on working with Rijkaard, “It was great working with him.

“He’s the coach under whom I played the longest and is also the best I’ve had. I could say good things about him all day.”

He added that it was “A lot of fun playing for him. ‘I’d always want to train. He created a feeling that we as a team wanted to be together. Rijkaard made it completely special. ”
