Portugal defeated Netherlands 1-0 to win the Nations League trophy on Sunday night and after the match, Ronaldo could be seen having a word with De Ligt.
Asked by NOS if Ronaldo had tried to convince him to join Juventus, De Ligt said, “That could well be true.
“What I answered? I didn’t understand him at first. So I said … No, I didn’t say anything.”
NOS pushed for more and De Ligt added, “I was a bit shocked, that’s why I laughed. But I didn’t say anything. Just after the game you just feel bad that you’ve lost, that’s all you’re thinking about.”
De Ligt’s future has been the subject of much speculation but the Ajax defender is remaining calm, “I am not at all annoyed that there is still no clarity. I think the transfer period will also start in a while. I am just going on a vacation now. Resting a bit, because it has been a long season. I will let it come to me “
PSG are said to be the favourites to sign the 19-year-old, while Barcelona remains in the race. Juventus have been linked but aren’t believed to be among the top candidates despite Ronaldo’s interference.
