Italian journalist Sandro Sabitini has reported that Inter Milan has a “Handshake agreement” to sign the Liverpool midfielder this summer.
Barcelona has long been thought to be the frontrunners to sign the 70-time Netherlands international, but if Sabitini is to be believed, Wijnaldum is closer to joining the current Serie A leaders.
While contract discussions with Liverpool took place last year into the beginning of 2021, they never came to a mutually acceptable deal, with Wijnaldum set to leave Liverpool after five seasons that have seen him win the Premier League, Champions League, Super Cup, and Club World Cup.
Wijnaldum would be joining fellow Dutchman Stefan de Vrij at Inter should he make the move.
