Henk de Jong also cites that he does not feel that he is the right man to save the club from relegation. His duties will now be taken over by his assistants Sipke Hulshoff, Jan Bruin and Arne Slot.
De Jong stated on the Cambuur website.”In spite of receiving support from the board and supporters I have the feeling that something must change and this is the right time to leave.
“I leave with a heavy heart but this is the best decision for SC Cambuur and I wish this fantastic club all the best for the future”.
General director Ard de Graaf reacted surprised to the decision. “We can’t do anything but respect Henk’s decision.
“Henk is highly thought of by SC Cambuur due the steps that the club have made in previous year’s mainly under his tutelage and we thank him for all he has done for SC Cambuur”.
