Seedorf took over at Deportivo in February on a short-term deal until the summer. He was tasked with keeping the club in the Spanish top flight, but the former midfielder couldn’t prevent their relegation.

On Tuesday, Deportivo confirmed that the 42-year-old has left the club, with chairman Tino Fernandez telling the club’s website, “With this new challenge we are looking for a trainer who can transfer his knowledge and experience of the Segunda Division.”

Seedorf added, “It has been an honor to represent the colors of a historic club like Deportivo. I thank the chairman and all other Depor employees for the help during the past months. I also want to thank the fans for the support until the end. They deserve to see Deportivo play at the highest level as soon as possible. ”

Deportivo was Seedorf’s third spell as a head coach after AC Milan and Chinese Shenzhen FC. All three have ended after only a few months.
