The former midfielder has been without a coaching role since being sacked at AC Milan over a year ago, but he is open to any role offered to him from England.

He told Talksport, “I’ve been a year without club, but I would love to work in England. I think it’s one of the best places to be a trainer. So absolutely, I would consider anything in England. I am open to the Premier League and the Championship. The level of both competitions is very high.

“Look at Stam, my good friend who is doing so well with Reading. There were a year ago conversations with some clubs from the Championship and also a few from the Premier League.”
